According to Korea Times, director Yoon Sung Hyun shared about the movie "Newtopia". He said the work belongs to the zombie genre, but combines 2 elements of humor and horror.
The film tells the story of soldier Jae Yoon (Park Jeong Min), and his girlfriend Young Joo (Jisoo) who begin a journey to find each other in the zombie-filled city of Seoul.
Talking about Jisoo, director Yoon Sung Hyun praised and affirmed that the film production process could not have been completed without her.
"I feel lucky to be able to work with Jisoo. I think the character Young Joo wouldn't be complete without her. There are times when she needs to show the character's humor, but Jisoo is a humorous actress, so she fits the role very well," said the director.
Yoon Sung Hyun revealed that Jisoo will be performing many difficult action scenes that require physical strength.
Previously, when the movie trailer was released, Jisoo's acting caused controversy. Many viewers were surprised because the atmosphere of the movie was "happier than expected", with many humorous situations alongside horror and thriller scenes.
At that time, on the online forum theqoo, a post about the trailer for “Newtopia” attracted more than 30 thousand views and more than 400 comments in a short time, many of which criticized the female lead Jisoo.
Some people say that Jisoo's expressions are not good, sometimes she goes too far, and her lines lack emotion.

In fact, despite having acting experience, Jisoo's ability has always been doubted. Her two roles in the upcoming dramas "Newtopia" and "Omniscient Reader" are both "heavy" and have depth.
Jisoo's character in "Newtopia" is an energetic girl who goes through many ups and downs, with many diverse expressions. In the trailer, Jisoo's performance is not convincing.
Through several works, Jisoo is still remembered as a female idol in the top group Blackpink, rather than a talented actress.
In her debut work "Snowdrop", Jisoo played the main role of Young Ro. Her acting received mixed reviews, her nasal voice was criticized for being hard to hear, and some even said that Jisoo couldn't pronounce the character's name "Eun Young Ro" correctly.
Jisoo herself admitted that she always feels pressured with her acting skills: "I feel a lot of pressure because I receive a lot of attention, but that can be a good motivation. I worked hard without hesitation when I was on set and I was always resilient."
