The reason Yoo Yeon Seok starred in “When the Phone Rings”

In a recent interview, actor Yoo Yeon Seok revealed the reason for accepting the role in the movie “When the Phone Rings.”

In recent days, the Korean movie “When the Phone Rings” has become a hit in Asian countries such as Vietnam, China, etc. Although the content is not new, the acting, camera angles, and storytelling of the movie have received praise, attracting more and more audiences.

“When the Phone Rings” is adapted from the web novel “The Number You Have Dialed” by author Geon Eomul Nyeo. The film revolves around the relationship between the two main characters Baek Sa Eon (played by Yoo Yeon Seok) and Hong Hee Joo (played by Chae Soo Bin).

Yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin portrayed the image of “tearing the story out”. The audience affirmed that thanks to the two main actors, “When the Phone Rings” was raised to a higher level and became more famous.

Recently, Yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin appeared in Harper’s Bazaar magazine to promote the film. Accordingly, the actor revealed about his role as well as the next developments in “When the Phone Rings”.

The star born in 1984 said: "Towards the end of the film, the romantic scenes become more and more intense. When I received this script, I had just finished playing a psychotic murderer in 'A Bloody Lucky Day'. Therefore, at first I thought this was a thriller, a dramatic work.

But after meeting the production team, I realized the romantic and delicate elements in the content. This is not just a pure thriller or pure romance, it has the harmony between the two elements, becoming the attraction."

Speaking more about the reason for accepting the role, Yoo Yeon Seok emphasized: “I always intentionally choose roles that are completely different, I don’t want to repeat myself. If I just played a kind character, next time I will try a role that is evil, cold or in another field.

I want the audience to always be curious about my next roles. I even want people to have reactions like ‘why did Yoo Yeon Seok take this role?’ For me, that is interesting and also the path that an actor like me should take.”

Yoo Yeon Seok's sharing partly answers the public's question about why he accepted the role in "When the Phone Rings". The image of Baek Sa Eon is relatively new to the actor born in 1984, and is also an opportunity for him to try his hand.

“When the Phone Rings” tells the story of Baek Sa Eon - the youngest presidential spokesman in Korea, born into a famous political family.

He married Hong Hee Joo - the daughter of a powerful newspaper owner. Hong Hee Joo had an accident when she was young and had difficulty speaking, so she had to learn sign language.

Baek Sa Eon and Hong Hee Joo got married for the benefit of their families. During their 3 years together, they rarely communicated. One day, Hong Hee Joo was kidnapped and became a turning point in their marriage. From here, the couple gradually discovered each other's secrets and revealed their feelings.
