At the event introducing the 2025 Tet film "Love by mistake for a best friend" on December 16, director Tran Thanh appeared as an investor and co-producer.
It is known that Tran Thanh decided to join hands with the distributor to invest in making the film because he loved the original work so much, felt that this was a great script and did not want to miss it, even though he was also taking on another Tet film, scheduled to be released at the same time.
"Friendzone (Vietnamese version is Loving the Wrong Best Friend) is a movie that I have had my sights on for a long time and have also raised the issue of buying the script from Thailand.
However, while negotiating with the copyright holder in Thailand, I managed to complete the script for "The Four Guardians". I was very happy and felt lucky when the project was assigned to directors Diep The Vinh and Nguyen Quang Dung."
He also shared that he felt very secure when director Diep The Vinh took charge of the film. In addition, Tran Thanh also praised Kaity Nguyen as one of the most talented actresses he has ever worked with, and the female lead role in the film "Love by mistake for a best friend" was "tailored" for her.
It can be said that in the 2025 Tet movie, Tran Thanh played big when he not only made the movie "The Four Guardians" but he also invested in "Love by Mistake" which will also be released on the first day of Tet 2025.
Director Nguyen Quang Dung said that Vietnamizing foreign films is a difficult task, as he must both retain the spirit of the original work and add the characteristics of Vietnamese culture.
He did not reveal the changes in the movie "Love by mistake" compared to the original Thai version and hopes that the audience will have their own discoveries when the movie is released.
As for talented actress Kaity Nguyen, this time returning to the rom-com genre, she also takes on a new responsibility as Creative Director. Kaity shared: “Kaity is very happy that Uncle Vinh, Uncle Dung, Uncle Hoan and Mr. Thanh have given Kaity the opportunity in a new position, opening new doors for her to contribute more to Vietnamese cinema. In terms of creativity, Kaity wants to give more opportunities to the Gen Z generation, so everyone will meet young, potential actors in "Love by mistake, best friend".
