Recently, the all-female Kpop group Fifty Fifty has released a video on YouTube, introducing the new members who are part of the lineup, including Yewon, Chanelle, Hana, and an unnamed individual.
Yewon is 19 years old, born in South Korea. She previously participated in the idol training program “RU Next?” of JTBC, a program that debuted the all-female group ILLIT and was organized by Belift Lab (a subsidiary of HYBE), the company that manages ILLIT.
Yewon was previously a trainee at Source Music, another subsidiary of HYBE, which currently manages the group LE SSERAFIM.
Chanelle also participated in “RU Next?”, a 21-year-old American-Korean woman born in Los Angeles. She was previously a trainee at Belift Lab.
Hana is an 18-year-old woman born in South Korea and first appeared in public through the survival program for children titled “Wicked” of Mnet in 2016.
Information about the remaining new member has not been publicly disclosed.
Keena is the only remaining member from the original lineup of Fifty Fifty.
The lineup of Fifty Fifty, consisting of Keena and four completely new faces, will re-debut with their second mini-album on September 20.
Fifty Fifty initially consisted of a 4-member all-female group, including Saena, Keena, Aran, and Sio. The group was formed by the small company Attrakt and debuted on November 18, 2022, with the mini-album “The Fifty”.
The song “Cupid” from their debut mini-album helped Fifty Fifty break the record of Blackpink to become the highest-ranking song by a solo female Kpop artist (not a collaboration) on the Billboard Hot 100 (ranked 17th) and have the most weeks on the Hot 100 chart in history (25 weeks).
However, in October last year, Attrakt terminated the contract with the three members Saena, Aran, and Sio after a lawsuit dispute that occurred in June 2023. Only Keena was retained.
Fifty Fifty is a 4th-generation Kpop group, along with aespa, IVE, NewJeans, and LE SSERAFIM. However, since the group has replaced almost the entire lineup, many opinions suggest that Fifty Fifty may be classified as a 5th-generation group, competing with ILLIT and Baby Monster.
