Movie "Mai"
Up to now, the movie "Mai" directed by Tran Thanh is the Vietnamese movie with the highest revenue in the history of movies shown in theaters in Vietnam with over 500 billion VND. "Mai" revolves around the love story of the female lead Mai (played by Phuong Anh Dao) and Sau (played by Tuan Tran).
In the film, artist Hong Dao plays Mrs. Dao - Sau's mother. Although she has a close relationship with Mai because she is a regular customer at her workplace. However, when she learns that Sau and Mai are in love, Mrs. Dao tries every way to prevent them because she is worried about their future. Although she is a supporting character, artist Hong Dao is given a lot of screen time and is an important character, pushing the drama to its climax.
The scenes of Mrs. Dao's inner turmoil or the scenes of artist Hong Dao confiding in Mai left a strong impression on the audience.
Movie "Lantern: Possession"
After "Mai", artist Hong Dao continued to make her mark with the role of Me Bich - the most powerful woman in the Duong Phuc family. According to statistics from Box Office Vietnam, "Linh Mieu: Quy Nhap Trang" earned more than 80 billion VND. Although it did not join the hundred-billion-VND films, "Linh Mieu: Quy Nhap Trang" was still the film that led the box office at the time of its release.
In the film, artist Hong Dao's performance continues to be highly appreciated when successfully portraying a Me Bich who always likes to control her son, daughter-in-law and children. Movie "Sister-in-law"
"Sister-in-law" is a surprising case of Vietnamese cinema at the end of 2024. Although not widely advertised, "Sister-in-law" surprised everyone with its tight, reasonable script and well-rounded acting by the cast, including artist Hong Dao (as Miss Ba Ky).
Miss Ba Ky is a cosmetic surgeon, an intelligent, modern woman. However, this woman also likes to control and lives a very principled life. Still playing the role of a loving mother, Miss Ba Ky has an extreme, cruel side because she does not believe in men. With her powerful acting, the female artist's scenes make the audience both sympathetic and bitter.
Currently, "Sister-in-law" is also the leading film at the Vietnamese box office, surpassing "Kaleidoscope: Catching the Ghost".
