On October 25, Xports News reported that Jeon Soyeon - Leader of Kpop girl group (G)I-DLE will leave Cube Entertainment.
Specifically, Soyeon recently discussed renewing her contract with Cube management company, but in the end, an agreement was not reached. The singer decided to part ways with her first company to go her own way.
Jeon Soyeon's contract with Cube is set to expire in November, this has been known for a long time.
Rumors of Soyeon leaving Cube began circulating in August, when she changed some of the lyrics at the opening night in Seoul for her world tour “iDOL 2024.”
During her solo performance, leader Soyeon suddenly revealed the end date of her contract with Cube Entertainment through the rap: "The contract will end in November. Who can stop me?".
At the time, Cube explained, "All members will be renewing their contracts next year, and Jeon Soyeon's mention of the contract ending at the end of this year was just part of the performance.
Because Soyeon's sudden action was not agreed upon with the company in advance, we are concerned that the company may suffer losses due to false information."
However, the company's statement was responded by Soyeon. She said that she did not write the lies and did not hide them from the company. "I showed them dozens of times during rehearsals and that stage was completed by everyone together," the singer affirmed.
Soyeon added that she didn't think badly of the company when she read the articles, but she also openly criticized the company for being lacking in response.
Soyeon is the member whose contract expires the earliest in the group, so curiosity about (G)I-DLE's future activities is increasing.
However, following the news from Xports News, Cube responded, "Discussions regarding Jeon Soyeon's contract renewal are still ongoing. In addition, she plans to carry out future schedules normally."
Jeon Soyeon debuted as a solo singer in November 2017, before debuting with (G)I-DLE in May 2018. Her contract period is also different from the other members.
Not only is she the leader and main rapper of (G)I-DLE, Soyeon is also the songwriter and music producer for the group. She takes on many roles from writing lyrics, composing, arranging songs in the album, orienting ideas, stories, and images for the group. From there, she promotes the popularity and creates the identity of (G)I-DLE.
In a talk show in July, Soyeon revealed that if she works hard and efficiently, there are months when she can earn 1 billion won (about 18.3 billion VND). This proves Soyeon's talent, importance and the "huge" workload when she is a key member of (G)I-DLE.
