According to Sports Kyunghyang, the movie “Harbin” directed by Woo Min Ho has won the No. 1 spot on the pre-sale ticket chart, 9 days before its release.
As of December 15, at 12:46 p.m., the film had recorded 83,383 pre-sold tickets, according to integrated cinema ticketing network KOBIS.
Set in 1909, the film depicts patriotic soldiers fighting to end the Japanese occupation of Korea.
Ahn Jung Geun's group goes to Harbin (China) to carry out a mission to assassinate the Japanese commander, while intelligence agents of the opposing faction try to stop the incident.
The film has surpassed many strong competitors such as “Firefighter” and “Mufasa: The Lion King” on the pre-order ticket chart in Korea, proving the high level of public anticipation for the work.
The film stars a cast of famous actors including Hyun Bin, Park Jung Min, Jo Woo Jin, Jeon Yeo Been, Lee Dong Wook... In which, Hyun Bin plays the role of a typical Korean national hero - Ahn Jung Geun.
At a press conference in late November, Hyun Bin confessed that he felt nervous, pressured, and responsible for taking on such an iconic character. But on the other hand, he was also happy to play such a meaningful character.
The actor emphasized that he was “determined to put sincerity into every movement and line.” Hyun Bin wanted to portray a hero with many different emotions, including pain, disappointment, and sadness during the process of going through the rebellion. But this character also has faith and a strong will to achieve his goals.
To portray the character well, the actor born in 1982 searched for many documents about hero Ahn Jung Geun during 8-9 months of preparing for filming.
According to the media, “with a compelling storyline, beautiful visuals and shooting locations across Mongolia, Latvia and South Korea, the upcoming film promises to deliver a cinematic experience that exceeds viewers’ expectations.”
“Harbin” is scheduled to hit theaters on December 24 this year.
