On June 12, actor So Ji Sub had an interview with the Korean media, sharing about the recently released Netflix drama Mercy for None, in which he plays the main character.
In the interview, So Ji Sub revealed that he lost 15kg to be able to take on the role in the film. He shared: Before starting my diet, I weighed 95kg. By the end of filming, I had lost to 70kg. I have lost weight normally. I limit calories and eat chicken breast to lose weight.
That's not easy. I didn't think I could gain weight like before. But I am an owner who likes to eat and easily gains weight, even if I don't eat much."
Right after its release, Khong dung gi was called John Wick of Korea. Regarding this, So Ji Sub expressed: "I am truly grateful that a Korean dark crime drama is compared to John Wick".
He added: "Korean crime movies are quite rare these days. I hope Khong Dong Ri can help revive many works about crime.
Each country has its own strengths when it comes to this genre. Because Korean movies do not use many guns, the impact will be different. You can really feel the energy directly through the close-range confrontations.

"Khong Duong" is a dark crime action film, telling the story of Nam Ki Joon (So Ji Sub), a former gangster (black society) who has left the underworld. 11 years after cutting off his gang ties, he returns to discover the truth behind the mysterious death of his younger brother Nam Ki Seok (Lee Joon Hyuk) and seeks revenge.
The film is adapted from a famous webtoon of the same name, known for its engaging plot and bold illustrations. When asked if she felt pressured about the original work, So Ji Sub confessed, "I received the adaptation script before reading the original work."
Of course, the film cannot satisfy all audiences, there are still opinions expressing regret for the content adapted into the film.
Regarding this, So Ji Sub said: The entire production team tried to make the film better than the original, not make it worse. There will definitely be people who like and dislike it after the film's release, I don't think we can do anything. Khong Duong from Netflix and the original webtoon have different appeals.
Regarding choosing a hairstyle different from the character Nam Ki Joon in the original webtoon, So Ji Sub explained, "I discussed with the director before filming, but Ki Joon did not have many lines, instead there were many action scenes. I didn't want to spend too much time preparing, so I changed his hairstyle."
So Ji Sub also praised her co-stars Choo Young Woo and Lee Joon Hyuk. He shared: They have prepared carefully, and the director has given them a lot of instructions. I like the way they quickly absorb the energy of the scenes.
Lee Joon Hyuk appeared for a short time, but he was very cool and charming. Even men think him attractive. He acted very well.
Meanwhile, Khong Duong Ti recorded 4.9 million views after only 3 days of release and rose to No. 2 on Netflixs global best-selling non-English-language TV show rankings for the week.
