After many days holding the top spot at the box office, Tran Thanh's "The Four Guardians" was officially dethroned by "The Billionaire Kiss" - the debut film of director and producer Thu Trang on the morning of February 6.
Thu Trang was born in 1984, she graduated from the Ho Chi Minh City College of Theater and Cinema (now Ho Chi Minh City University of Theater and Cinema). After graduating, she started acting as a supporting actress for her seniors. However, she was often criticized for not having the advantage of appearance.
Because she did not have the advantage of appearance, Thu Trang decided to enter the comedy scene and made her mark with many roles. In the 2010s, Thu Trang emerged as a promising artist on the stage with a series of popular plays such as: "Human Painting", "Morgue Secret"...
"Riding on the momentum", Thu Trang continued to enter the film industry with a role in "Trung so" in 2015 by director Dustin Nguyen. Immediately following that was a role as Duyen in "Em la ba noi cua anh" - a girl who had passed her prime and was unlucky. The film achieved a record in revenue at that time, bringing fame to a series of actors, including Thu Trang.
However, Thu Trang's name is best known to the audience and is listed among talented actors through "Blood Moon Party" in 2020 by director Quang Dung.

Playing the role of Thu Quynh - a woman who loves poetry but also has a lot of inner feelings, Thu Trang was considered to have a graceful and natural performance. Even when acting with other famous actors such as Thai Hoa, Hua Vi Van, Hong Anh,... she still stood out and was the actress who received the most compliments at that time. "Blood Moon Party" also ranked among the highest-grossing Vietnamese films, putting Thu Trang's name on the list of "hundred-billion-dollar actors".
Along with her role as an actress, Thu Trang also developed as a producer with "Chi Muoi Ba: Ba ngay sinh tu", "Nghe sieu de" and "Con Nhot mot chong". All three of these films had good revenue and helped Thu Trang's name become more solid in the film industry.
The role of Nhot in "Con Nhot Mot Chong" also helped Thu Trang win "Best Film Actress" at the Golden Kite in 2023.

Up to "Billion Dollar Kiss", although it was her first film as director and producer, Thu Trang "played big" by investing a huge budget and inviting a cast of young actors, including the new face Miss Thien An.
This is a bold move but also proves Thu Trang's mettle after many years in the profession.
