The information that ICON a song in the new album Formula of Love: O+T=<3 by TWICE group was refused to be broadcast by KBS is receiving public attention.
According to KBS representatives: "We refuse all songs with vulgar content and lyrics. Because when broadcast on television, unhealthy content will cause offense, influence and have a negative impact on the audience, especially young people".
Currently, the management company of TWICE, JYP Entertainment, has not responded to the above incident.
This is not the first time KBS has banned songs with vulgar content and sensitive lyrics. Previously, many famous Korean music groups were in trouble because of the station's strict regulations.
BTS' "Go Go"
Go Go is the 8th song in the mini album Vol. 5 Love Yourself: Her by the famous group BTS. Right from the time of release, Go Go received love and enthusiasm from the audience for its cheerful melody, eye-catching image and youthful, dynamic choreography.
However, KBS flatly refused to broadcast Go Go on the grounds that the song had some inappropriate language, easily confusing to listeners, and these things were contrary to the general regulations of the station. Although there were many recommendations from BTS fans afterwards, the station still reserved their views and included Go Go in the black list, banning broadcasting on KBS.
Blackpink's "Boombayah"
The song "Boombayah" is one of the "hits" that made the name of the girl group Blackpink in the Korean and international music market. However, like BTS, the lead song of the 4 YG girls also encountered many problems right from the release.
Less than 12 hours after Boombayah was first released, KBS issued a banning order after studying and evaluating some of the lyrics in the song as inappropriate. In addition, another reason given is that Boombayah directly refers to a wine brand, while the groups fans are mainly young people, who are underage.
Therefore, KBS decided not to air Boombayah despite facing a series of strong oppositions from Blackpink fans.
EXO's "Lotto"
BTS and Blackpink's "rival" group EXO also encountered a similar situation when KBS "banned" the song "Lotto". This is a song with many special meanings in EXO's career. However, for KBS, this is a form of "disguise promotion" for a series of brand names. The "nhummed" promotion of brands with products is causing many controversies about quality.
Although EXO's management company, SM Entertainment, has sent an explanatory document, KBS still decided to include the song "Lotto" in the list of songs that cannot be broadcast in any form.
