Smith admitted that he had betrayed the Academys trust and deprived the winners and winners of the ceremonys celebrations. At the end of the announcement, the actor wrote: I am very heartbroken. I will never let violence get out of place again.
After Smith spoke, David Rubin - President of the Academy - also announced his acceptance of Smith's proposal. We will continue to discipline Mr. Smith for violating the Academys standards of conduct before the next board meeting, scheduled for April 18, he said.
Leaving the Academy means that Will Smith will no longer be able to vote for Oscar in the future, but he can still be nominated, attend ceremonies and hold the Best Actor Oscar award he won. However, the Academy can still consider revoking the above rights.
