On the afternoon of August 2nd, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Huyen - Principal of Nguyen Du Plus International Kindergarten - said that after continuing dialogue and negotiation, up to now, 52/61 teachers have agreed to return to work from August 3rd.
Currently, the school is still continuing negotiations with the remaining teachers" - Ms. Huyen said.
According to Ms. Huyen, the school has agreed to adjust salary increases for teachers, the lowest level is 500,000 VND/month, the highest is 1.2 million VND/month, depending on the seniority of each person.
At the same time, the school cancels the regulation on retroactive tuition collection for children of teachers currently studying at the school in cases where teachers quit their jobs before completing at least 2 years of work after their children graduate.
Nguyen Du Plus International Kindergarten currently has 69 teachers in charge, of which 8 are on maternity leave. Thus, out of 61 teachers currently working, 52 have agreed to return to school.
The school is continuing to dialogue and negotiate with the remaining 9 teachers with the goal that all teachers will return to work from August 3.
According to the school principal, in case no agreement has been reached with all teachers, from August 3, the school will still organize normal activities, fully receiving children to limit the impact on parents.
Previously, on the morning of August 1st, many parents brought their children to Nguyen Du Plus International Kindergarten as usual but had to take their children home because a series of teachers stopped working collectively to petition about salaries and some regimes and policies.
The incident caused many parents to worry and be passive in taking care of their children when parents have to go to work.
As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, a teacher who has worked at the school for about 2 years said that her salary is only more than 5 million VND/month. Meanwhile, a parent said that they pay more than 4.8 million VND per month for their child's tuition.
