Regarding the "technical incident" that causes IELTS test scores of many candidates to increase or decrease, some universities in Ho Chi Minh City said they will conduct a review.
On November 14, speaking with Lao Dong, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoan - Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade said that a council will be established to review cases of changes in IELTS scores, including both input and output.
However, according to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoan, the council will be established when students report, and at the same time wait for instructions from the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).
"This will face many difficulties due to the lack of official data, depending on the honesty of learners," he said.
Representatives of the University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) and Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry also informed that they will conduct a review, however, the handling direction will have to wait for guidance from the Ministry of Education and Training.
Previously, on November 12, many articles appeared on social networks reflecting the unusually adjusted IELTS test scores, quickly attracting attention and debate.
Many candidates said they received emails from the British Council and IDP reporting incidents related to the two rounds Reading (Reading) and Listening (Listening).
In the letter to the contestants, both units expressed their regret and apologized. Those affected can choose between receiving the full fee or registering for the exam without a fee.
The units asked the candidates to confirm the plan before May 2026, and said that the old results will no longer be valid.
