Due to the impact of storm No. 9 Ragasa, some universities in the North have postponed graduation ceremonies, canceled school year celebrations, and switched to online learning.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology has announced that due to the impact of super typhoon Ragasa, the graduation ceremony in September 2025 will be postponed to October 4-5, 2025.

According to the original plan, the graduates of the 2024-2A and 2024-2B batches will attend the graduation ceremony at Hanoi University of Science and Technology on September 27-28.

The school also hopes that graduates in the 2024-2024A and 2024-2024B rounds, parents and guests will pay attention to arrange their attendance time.

For students who are far away, have booked air tickets, and cannot attend the graduation ceremony on October 4-5, the school informed that they can contact the Student Affairs Department for support to receive their degrees, documents, and take photos on the afternoon of September 26.

The University of Economics - Vietnam National University, Hanoi has also announced the cancellation of the New Year's celebration (expected on the morning of September 25-) to ensure absolute safety for all staff, lecturers, students and guests in the face of the complicated developments of storm No. 9 Ragasa.

The school said that important activities such as rewarding students and expressing gratitude to sponsors and accompanying partners will be arranged by the school at the nearest event and specifically announced in the near future.

Thang Long University also postponed the New Year's Eve music festival on September 26, moving to next week to ensure the safety of lecturers, students and guests.

Many other universities have said they will switch to online learning today and tomorrow. At Hanoi University of Industry, theoretical classes have been switched to online, practical classes can be taught online or on leave and make up for expenses. For the University of Law, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, lecturers proactively choose to teach in person, online or make-up teaching.

A series of other schools have transferred online for 1-4 days such as the University of Commerce, Labor - Social Affairs, Hanoi Culture, Technology and Friendship Management, Academy of Public Administration and Management.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this morning (September 25), after entering the sea of Quang Ninh, storm No. 9 Ragasa weakened into a tropical depression.

The storm caused rain in the coastal areas of Quang Ninh - Hai Phong, the Northern region, Thanh Hoa - Nghe An.
