Maintained for the past 5 years, the charity breakfast is still a source of spiritual encouragement for students in mountainous communes studying at Duc Thuan Primary School, Bau Chim village branch, to attend class regularly.
This is a branch located in Duc Thuan commune, Tanh Linh district, Binh Thuan, about 7km from the main school. Most of the students are ethnic minorities, with families in difficult circumstances. Since the implementation of the model "Warm hearts every morning at the beginning of the week when I go to school" in 2019, the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of Duc Thuan Primary School has launched and mobilized each teacher and union member to contribute 60,000 VND per month to organize breakfast at the beginning of the week for about 50 students at the Bau Chim village branch.
Back then, although breakfasts were not lavish, they somehow helped motivate the children to go to school and strive to excel in their studies. From the contributed funds, teachers prepared breakfast for the children to eat at school.
The model was maintained continuously until the 2023-2024 school year. Sympathizing with the fact that many students at Bau Chim village branch school went to school without breakfast due to difficult circumstances, Ms. Doan Thi Huong's family, who lives opposite the school gate, volunteered to cook free breakfast for the students here and was approved by the school. Many people in Bau Chim village contributed materials and labor to cook breakfast every Monday for the children.
Ms. Dang Thi Quynh Giang - President of the Trade Union of Duc Thuan Primary School - said that the model is very meaningful and has been maintained over time. In the 2023-2024 school year, in addition to the support of Ms. Huong's family in front of the school, the teachers also acted as a bridge with sponsors to support funding for Ms. Huong's restaurant to cook more breakfast for the children, increasing to 2 meals/week on Monday and Friday. By this school year 2024-2025, in addition to breakfast on Monday and Friday for the children, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings, 20 students with the most difficult circumstances at the branch were supported with additional meals.
Although the children come to eat charity breakfast at Ms. Huong's family restaurant in front of the school, the teachers also come out to support and help arrange the food. The breakfast dishes are constantly changed so that the students do not get bored. In particular, the restaurant focuses on food hygiene and safety and is full of nutrients.
The heartwarming breakfasts are not only a source of encouragement for the children to go to school but also contain the care of teachers and donors for the students in the mountainous commune. From there, they sow in their souls the sharing of love, helping them to be happier every day at school and nurturing the seeds for the future.
