Hasty meals, late-night classes of border students before the graduation exam

Lang Son - In the days leading up to the 2026 high school graduation exam, each small room of 12th grade students in the border area has become a "preparatory room".

Keeping the exam preparation rhythm before G-hour

At 7 am, Doan Yen Nhi, a 12E1 student at Chu Van An High School for the Gifted (Lang Son), woke up. Breakfast took place quickly, without being fussy.

At about 8 am, I sat down at my desk. On the desk were textbooks, notebooks, review outlines and sheets of paper covered with bullet points.

These days, Nhi does not have much space for leisure. In the morning, she spends time on History and Geography - subjects that need to be memorized a lot.

At about 10:30 am - 11 am, the female student temporarily folded her books, took advantage of cooking rice, and helped her parents. After lunch and a short break, she returned to her desk.

In the morning, I usually study History and Geography. In the afternoon, I study Literature, and in the evening, I spend time on Mathematics because this subject is more about thinking. I find studying in the evening quiet and easy to get into the head," Nhi said.

Nhi's day of exam preparation usually lasts until 12 pm, sometimes until 1 am. Although she once won the third prize in the national excellent student exam in Literature and had the opportunity to be directly admitted to university, Nhi still entered the high school graduation exam with a serious attitude.

Nhi's mother is a teacher, once suffered from kidney failure and had a kidney transplant. Currently, she still has to take medicine every day to maintain her health. Her father is a freelancer, and his health is unstable.

For Nhi, studying is not only a personal dream but also a way to share some of the burden with her parents.

If I study well, I can receive a scholarship, saving some family expenses. That is also a motivation for me to try," Nhi shared.

From her love for Literature and the inspiration of her Literature teacher, Nhi plans to study Literature Pedagogy.

Also in class 12E1, Phung Thi Ngoc Anh is entering the last days of exam preparation by studying differently from before. She no longer studies scattered but focuses on systematizing all knowledge after a long process.

“I mainly systematize knowledge. In addition to studying time, I also spend short breaks to chat and confide with friends, helping my spirit to be more comfortable before the exam,” Anh said.

Anh chose the C00 combination and once won the third prize in the national excellent student exam in Literature. Currently, the female student has not finalized a specific university, but plans to study pedagogy.

After stressful study hours, I chat with friends, share worries, and ask each other about the progress of reviewing. Those short conversations become a way to relieve the pressure of final year students.

My parents always support all my decisions. In the last days before the exam, my parents encouraged and took care of me so that I could have the best health and spirit," Anh shared.
