On May 6, a ceremony was held in Hanoi to announce the decision to recognize the Principal of the University of Water Resources for the 2020 - 2025 term.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hiep - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment congratulated Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Viet on his appointment as Principal of the University of Irrigation.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hiep trusted and assigned the task to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Viet, together with the Board of Directors and all staff and lecturers to promote the spirit of solidarity, innovation, creativity, focus on directing and effectively organizing the implementation of a number of key tasks. In which, it emphasizes the strong innovation of training programs, associated with production practices and the needs of society; building new training sectors, in line with the development requirements of a green economy, digital economy and climate change adaptation.
At the same time, it strengthens connections with localities, businesses, professional associations and research institutes, creating a sustainable training - research - application ecosystem, linking training with labor market needs.
Speaking at the ceremony, the new principal of Nguyen Trung Viet Irrigation University - affirmed that, under the direction of the Party Committee and the supervision of the school council, he and the board of directors and the whole school will synchronously implement strategic orientations, focus on developing core values. Since then realize the vision to become a leading research university in the field of water resources, the environment, construction, natural disaster prevention and transformation of agricultural sectors with the spirit of innovation - creativity - flexible adaptation - sustainable development.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Viet was born in 1974, in Vinh Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, Nghe An province. He is one of the leading experts in the field of hydraulic construction engineering in Vietnam.
In 1993, he was admitted to the University of Irrigation, majoring in Irrigation Construction. In 1998, he studied for a Master's degree in Irrigation Works at the University of Water Resources.
After graduating, he continued to complete his PhD program at Tohoku University, Japan and returned to Vietnam to teach at the University of Water Resources since 1999.
He was appointed Associate Professor in 2010; Professor in 2018.
