Chairman of Lao Cai directs inspection of the case of "preschool teachers being charged additional hours"

On October 27, according to Lao Dong's source, the People's Committee of Lao Cai province issued document No. 3336 "checking and verifying information reflecting Lao Dong Newspaper on the collection of overtime pay for teachers at An Binh Kindergarten, Dong Cuong commune".

Accordingly, the document clearly states the direction of Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Tran Huy Tuan as follows:

On October 24, 2025, Lao Dong Newspaper published an article "Teachers at a kindergarten in Lao Cai report being charged extra teaching fees".

According to the content, teachers at An Binh Kindergarten (Dong Cuong commune, Lao Cai province) reported that the school has collected all the monthly overtime pay from teachers from 2023 to present, so that the school can use it for other purposes; at the same time, they reported that parents have to pay 500,000 VND/child to buy boarding facilities, but in reality, the school has reused old items from the previous school year and used charity goods, and spent very little on purchases.

The Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Education and Training to preside over and coordinate with Dong Cuong Commune People's Committee to organize an inspection and verification of the content reflected by Lao Dong Newspaper at An Binh Kindergarten. Report to the Provincial People's Committee before October 30, 2025.

It is known that An Binh Kindergarten has 20 teachers and 250 students. The principal, Ms. Doan Thi Le Xuan, returned to work at the school in September 2022.

After receiving information about the incident, Lao Cai Provincial Police have stepped in and are working with the Board of Directors, accountants, treasurers, and all teachers of An Binh Kindergarten to verify and clarify.
