In the 2026-2027 school year, Ho Chi Minh City has 5 schools enrolling grade 6 students using competency assessment surveys, including: Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School (Sai Gon ward), Hoa Lu Secondary School (Tang Nhon Phu ward), Binh Tho Secondary School (Thu Duc ward), Tran Quoc Toan Secondary School (Binh Trung ward) and Nguyen An Ninh Secondary School (Tam Thang ward).
Parents register for the entrance exam in 2 steps.
Step 1, register on the entrance gateway at tuyensinhdaucap. hcm. edu. vn in the period from June 9 to June 14.
Step 2, submit the supporting documents directly at the registered enrollment school within the same period.
The dossier includes a valid copy of the 5th grade transcript or the 5th grade year-end transcript (certified or original for comparison) and an application form for the survey printed from the enrollment system.
Because the survey takes place uniformly on July 1, 2026, each student is only allowed to register for the survey at one school.
In the 2026-2027 school year, Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School enrolls 350 students, divided into 10 classes.
The capacity assessment survey of Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School consists of two parts. The multiple-choice part has 20 questions, the test time is 30 minutes. The essay part lasts 60 minutes, assessing English proficiency (hearing comprehension, reading comprehension, writing in English), mathematics and logical thinking, along with reading comprehension and writing in Vietnamese.
For Hoa Lu Secondary School, Binh Tho Secondary School, Tran Quoc Toan Secondary School and Nguyen An Ninh Secondary School, the survey also took place in 90 minutes including two parts. The multiple-choice section has 20 questions to be done in 30 minutes. The essay section lasts 60 minutes with content assessing reading, understanding and writing English proficiency; mathematical and logical thinking proficiency; reading comprehension and writing proficiency.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the department will organize the entire 6th grade enrollment survey of Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School, from the question setting, survey review, grading to re-examination.
For the remaining 4 schools, the Department of Education and Training develops survey questions and provides professional support to ensure fairness and objectivity. Ward People's Committees are responsible for issuing guiding documents, organizing surveys, grading papers and resolving re-exams according to regulations.
