On December 26, Ho Chi Minh City National University held an annual conference in 2025, and announced the draft strategic targets for the 2026-2030 period, with the expectation of a breakthrough in both human resources and scientific research.
Accordingly, VNU-HCM aims to increase 1,500 more lecturers and experts with doctoral degrees by 2030. In addition to the quantity, the quality of the team is also standardized with the target of 50% of PhDs achieving the title of professor and associate professor.

In terms of expertise, the upcoming strategy will focus on globalization and spearhead technology industries. Accordingly, 60% of STEM training programs will be taught in English. The scale of postgraduate and graduate admissions is expected to increase to 30%.
In scientific activities, VNU-HCM strives to publish 41,200 papers on Scopus and achieve 100 international patents in the next 5 years.
In terms of facilities, the dormitory system is expected to be expanded to 60,000 seats to meet student needs. The unit also plans to invest in building 1-2 international standard practice hospitals.
The Innovation Hub (VNUHCM Innovation Hub) will soon be put into operation, playing a core role connecting the State - Schools - Enterprises.
With an expected revenue growth of 7-10% per year, VNU-HCM is focusing all its efforts to promote Vietnamese higher education on the world map.
