On February 6, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training officially announced the 10th grade entrance exam schedule for the 2025-2026 school year.

The 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City this year will take place on June 6-7, 2025. Candidates will take the exam in 3 subjects: Math, Literature (120 minutes/subject) and Foreign Language (90 minutes).

Candidates registering for the entrance exam to the city's specialized high schools must take the fourth subject (specialized subject) with a duration of 150 minutes/subject. Each specialized subject has its own exam according to the secondary school curriculum, the exam content ensures the selection of students with talent in that specialized subject.

According to the regulations on secondary and high school admission announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, provinces can choose to take entrance exams, consider admission to grade 10 or combine them. For the entrance exam, the exam includes Math, Literature and a third subject (or a combination exam).

The third subject is selected by the Department of Education and Training from subjects assessed by scores, including: Foreign Language 1, Civic Education, Natural Sciences, History and Geography, Technology, and Information Technology. However, provinces and cities cannot choose a third subject for more than three consecutive years.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City had more than 98,000 candidates taking the exam, about 77,300 of whom passed.
