On the morning of November 22, Hanoi National University of Education announced the independent capacity assessment exam in 2025.
Accordingly, candidates can register for exams in the following subjects: Math, Literature, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography and use the exam results to apply for admission to regular university training programs according to the requirements of each university.
Each university has different regulations on the number and combination of subjects to get the exam results and apply for training programs. Therefore, candidates need to carefully study the admission plan of each school to register for the correct and sufficient number of subjects, suitable for their admission wishes.
The school noted that from 2026, the competency assessment exam is expected to add subjects of Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, and Technology.
Hanoi National University of Education said that the content of the exams corresponds to the content of high school subjects and exams; in accordance with the 2018 General Education Program and the teaching, testing and assessment orientation of the Ministry of Education and Training.
The test combines multiple-choice and essay questions with appropriate scoring according to the structure of each test; assessing the level of understanding of core knowledge and the ability to reason, analyze, evaluate, solve problems and be creative. Candidates take the test directly in the examination room, answering questions by filling in the multiple-choice answer sheet and writing on the test paper. The types of questions and specific ways of answering are as follows:
Exam time is 2 days 17-18.5.2025 (Saturday and Sunday).
To facilitate candidates nationwide, Hanoi National University of Education added an additional testing location at Vinh University. Thus, in 2025, there will be 4 testing locations across the North, Central and South: Vinh University; Quy Nhon University; University of Education - Danang University.
Candidates can register to take the exam at one of the four exam locations listed above.
Exam fee is 250,000 VND/subject.
Registration period: from March 15 to April 15, 2025.
Exam scores will be announced before June 15, 2025.
Candidates can look up the results of the competency assessment test on their personal accounts at the 2025 University Admissions Registration Portal. After that, they can receive the certificate of exam results directly or by post to submit to the university that recognizes the exam results (if required) to complete the university admission procedure.
The results of the Hanoi National University of Education's competency assessment test are only valid for admission to full-time university programs in the 2025 enrollment year.
Up to now, there are 22 higher education institutions (an increase of 13 units compared to 2023) recognizing and using exam results for regular university admission.
