Orientation to arrange and merge pedagogical colleges, universities, and medical schools
Provinces and cities across the country are implementing plans to arrange and merge the network of universities, colleges and secondary schools in the direction of streamlining and improving training quality. Many medical and pharmaceutical schools have been merged such as: Hue Medical College into Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy; Thai Nguyen Medical College into Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy; Hoa Binh Medical College into Phu Tho Medical College. The Ministry of Health also proposed major merger options such as receiving Hai Duong University of Medical Technology to Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy and merging Hai Duong Central College of Pharmacy to Hanoi University of Pharmacy.
Leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Health affirmed that the merger aims to optimize resources, increase competitiveness, expand scale and improve the quality of medical human resource training. Key medical universities are still under the Ministry of Health to ensure quality and consistency in training. A comprehensive project on rearranging the education - training system and transferring some facilities to localities is expected to be submitted in 2026.
For the pedagogical sector, Minister Nguyen Kim Son said that the pedagogical college system will be strongly streamlined, keeping only 3-4 schools; all remaining schools will be merged into pedagogical universities. The Department of Education and Training of Ninh Binh province has issued a plan to recruit 1,717 teachers to supplement public schools in the area.
Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ninh Binh province said that the purpose of the recruitment is to supplement the number of teachers still lacking in public schools in the province.
The target of recruiting teachers and civil servants in 2025 is allocated to schools as follows: For the kindergarten sector, the total number of schools recruiting is 314 schools.
