On August 6, the Department of Education and Training of Gia Lai province said that 7 border communes in the area have a total of 10,323 students, of which about 7,134 students need to study as boarding and semi-boarding.
7 communes still lack 406 items, classrooms need to be supplemented. The total estimated capital demand for investment in facilities for boarding and semi-boarding students is more than 378 billion VND. The province recommends using the central budget for investment.

The Department of Education and Training of Gia Lai province also requires newly built schools to meet standards, organize teaching sessions 2 sessions/day, and ensure students get free lunch at school.
Gia Lai currently has 7 border communes bordering Cambodia that have not merged administrative units, including Ia O, Ia Puch, Ia Chia, Ia Dom, Ia Mo, Ia Pon and Ia Nan.
Implementing Conclusion No. 81-TB/TW dated July 18, 2025 of the Politburo on building boarding and semi-boarding schools for students in border areas, localities and people are very excited and hope to soon improve learning conditions for their children.
In Ia Dom commune, school facilities have seriously degraded over the years. The demand for inpatient and semi-resident training is huge because most parents work as farmers or workers in rubber plantations of the farm, and cannot afford to take their children to school every day.

Typically, Bi village school (belonging to Tran Phu Primary School) has only 3 classes, limited area, not qualified to organize boarding.
Many families have to take their children to school by motorbike for a long distance of up to 20km, affecting their daily life and work. Many students have dropped out of school to help their parents.
In the 2024-2025 school year, the whole Ia Dom commune has 12 students dropping out of school, of which Tran Phu Primary School and Nguyen Trai Secondary School each have 6 students, said Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tien - Vice Chairman of Ia Dom Commune People's Committee.
In Ia Chia commune, a similar situation is happening. Students of Cu Chinh Lan Primary School have to walk more than 7km to get to the main school in Lang village, with 18 students going to school far away every day. There is still a shortage of facilities: toilets, parking spaces, dining rooms... The first mountain school in Bang village is degraded, with cracked walls, peeling ceilings, and leaking water during the rainy season.
Le Hong Phong Secondary School ( Ia Chia Commune) has 627 students in the 2025-2026 school year, of which 74 students are about 7km from school; 410 students have boarding needs, 100 students have boarding needs. However, the school does not have a cafeteria or boarding house, the area is small, not meeting the needs.
