On the morning of May 13, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) informed that 4 Vietnamese students participating in the 59th Mendeleev International Chemistry Competition all won medals, including 2 Gold medals and 2 Silver medals.
Tran Trung Kien, a 12th grade student at Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Hanoi, and Nguyen Ngo Duc, a 12th grade student at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Nghe An province, won Gold medals with scores of 169.25 and 151.05 points respectively.
Dinh Trong An, a 12th grade student at the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University, and Tran Hoang Nam, an 11th grade student at Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Hanoi, won a Silver medal.
The scores of the two students are 149.70 and 136.65 points respectively.

The 59th Mendeleev International Chemistry Olympiad (59th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad) will take place from 5/12/2025 in Belo Horizonte city, Brazil.
This is one of the most prestigious and challenging academic exams in the field of Chemistry for high school students, often known as the "Most Difficult Chemistry exam on the planet".
The Vietnamese high school student team was selected from the results of the regional and international Olympic team to select the regional and international Olympic team. Besides the official team attending the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), the University of Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University was assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training to take the lead in training and organize the Youth Union to take the exam.
In 2025, the exam will gather 192 candidates from 40 countries and territories, including countries with strongly developed chemical education such as China, Russia, Korea, Japan, etc.
The exam took place in 3 rounds over 3 days. In which, round 1 and round 2 are theoretical exams and round 3 are practical exams. The time for each round is 5 hours. The Organizing Committee awarded official prizes to 60% of the contestants, according to the ratio of Gold Medals: Silver: Bronze is 1:200.
The goal of the exam is not only to test professional competence but also to aims to discover, nurture young scientific talents and enhance exchanges and cooperation between countries.
