During the meeting on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, Dr. Le Thi Kim Ha - Hero of the People's Armed Forces, former Head of the Emergency Resuscitation Department of Military Hospital 175, shared the story of her career associated with the two words "learning" and "teaching".
From a young nurse who grew up in the middle of the battlefield, Mrs. Ha entered the medical profession with the spiritual training of the army and the belief of constant learning. In the early years of taking over Military Hospital 175, facing a large number of patients and modern equipment, she understood that "only enthusiasm is not enough". She was on duty, cycling to study culture for 5 years, then continued to study foreign languages and specialties. It is a persistent journey to self-fill the "loopholes" in knowledge after the war.
During her working time, Ms. Ha always considered passing on clinical experience to the next generation as her biggest responsibility. The meticulous notes from the lessons of previous professors and doctors are kept by her as a "handbook" to teach students. Many of her students are now hospital leaders, such as Major General - Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, Major General Tran Quoc Viet, Colonel Bui Duc Thanh... "The success of a case does not belong to an individual, but to the efforts of the whole team", she emphasized.
Not only does she teach a profession, she also teaches a spirit of solidarity and a sense of responsibility: mistakes in medicine can be exchanged for life, so doctors must modestly learn and closely follow each patient's developments.
Although she has retired for more than 20 years, Ms. Ha still follows the growth steps of the Resuscitation Department. Seeing them as better than me is the greatest happiness and pride, she said.
From the perspective of training work, Major General, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Quang Tri - Party Secretary, Deputy Director of Military Hospital 175, emphasized the importance of studying and training in the military health environment at the end of the line.
As many doctors of the previous generation have said, we must consider patients as relatives and treat the pain of patients as our own pain. That is not easy, but you have to practice every day. In addition to empathy, doctors must also spread love to "mental medicine" becomes the force of treatment", Dr. Quang Tri shared.
According to Major General Le Quang Tri, generations of doctors at the hospital have always passed on the passion for the profession through continuous study and serious professional training. Today, our responsibility is to continue to pass on experiences, creating an environment for the younger generation to both learn and develop soft skills, technological skills, scientific research and management and leadership.
In the development orientation for the 2025-2030 term, Military Hospital 175 places the construction of high-quality human resources as the top breakthrough. The five pillars of training include: in-depth and continuous expertise; soft skills; digital and technology skills; scientific research capacity; management and leadership skills.
Only by combining these five pillars at the same time, can we build a comprehensive team of doctors, ready to meet the professional, technological and management requirements in the 4.0 era, Mr. Tri affirmed.
