Kien Giang Secondary School was established on the basis of merging 6 secondary schools in the province.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province has signed Decision No. 419/QD-UBND on the establishment of Kien Giang Secondary School under the Department of Education and Training of the province.

Kien Giang College was established on the basis of merging 6 secondary schools in the province, including: U Minh Thuong Vocational College; Boarding Ethnic Vocational College; Tan Hiep Vocational College; Kien Giang Vocational College - Technical College; Tu Giac Long Xuyen Vocational College; Vietnam - Korea Phu Quoc College (under the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs of Kien Giang province).

Kien Giang Secondary School is a public service unit under the Department of Education and Training of Kien Giang province, officially operating on March 1, 2025. The organizational structure includes: School Council, Board of Directors, specialized departments and faculties.

The headquarters of Kien Giang Secondary School is located at No. 31, Chi Lang Street, Vinh Bao Ward, Rach Gia City.
