On December 2, Thong Nhat Ward Police (Gia Lai) stepped in to verify and clarify information about the incident of a female student at Ton Duc Thang Secondary School being beaten by a group of friends right in school, which spread on social media.
According to initial information, on the evening of December 1, Ms. T.T.D (born in 1993, residing in Thong Nhat Ward) - mother of female student D.T.N.T (class 7/1, Ton Duc Thang Secondary School) - posted a clip recording a scene of T being surrounded and beaten by a group of friends wearing the uniforms of Ton Duc Thang Secondary School at the school's sports stadium on November 28.
According to the clip, T was grabbed by a female student's hair and repeatedly beaten in the head. Another female student kicked T many times in the hips and head when T was knocked down and could not resist.
Notably, T was beaten right in the school grounds, but did not see the timely intervention of the teacher. Students witnessed no act of stopping, but tended to encourage violent behavior.
Ms. D said that T had been physically and mentally assaulted by friends many times, living in fear and insecurity but had not been properly resolved.
In response to the incident, the leaders of Thong Nhat Ward People's Committee requested the Board of Directors of Ton Duc Thang Secondary School to clarify. When the results are reported, the ward will direct the strict handling of school violence, ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment for students.
