According to the plan of the Department of Education and Training (DET) of Ho Chi Minh City, grade 9 students will have to complete their wish registration for grade 10 before 5:00 p.m. on May 10.
In which, in grade 10 usually, each student is allowed to register 3 wishes, in order of priority from top to bottom, when admitted, the candidate must study that wish and not change the order.
The admission score is the total score: Literature score + Foreign language score + Math score + priority and incentive score (if any).
Benchmark score for grade 10 in 2024 (from 10.5-24.25 points)
According to statistics from Lao Dong, last year the benchmark scores of public high schools typically ranged from 10.5-24.25. Topping out is Nguyen Thuong Hien High School, followed by Binh Khanh High School, Can Thanh High School and An Nghia High School - these are schools in the suburbs of the city.
Compared to 2023, 60 high schools have reduced their benchmark scores by 0.25-2.25 points; 34 schools have increased their scores by 0.25-2.5 points.
The schools with the most reductions are mainly in the top and middle groups. The strongest decrease is Phuoc Long High School (from 18.5 to 16.25); next is Nguyen Chi Thanh High School, down 2 points (from 20.25 to 18.25). Giong Ong To High School, Nguyen Hue High School, Nguyen Du High School all decreased by 1.75 points.
Some top schools have reduced their scores such as: Gia Dinh High School decreased by 1.5 points; Nguyen Thuong Hien High School decreased by 1.25 points; Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School, Phu Nhuan decreased by 1 point; Mac Dinh Chi High School, Le Quy Don decreased by 0.75 points; Nguyen Huu Huan High School, Nguyen Huu Cau High School decreased by 0.5 points; Tran Phu High School decreased by 0.25 points.
Most notably in the benchmark scores of grade 10 years ago, many schools in suburban areas unexpectedly increased their benchmark scores. Of which, Binh Chanh Sports and Physical Training School increased the most with 2.5 points (from 11.5 to 14); followed by Ngo Gia Tu High School increased by 2 points (from 12 to 14).
Quang Trung High School and Le Minh Xuan High School both increased by 1.75 points. Binh Chanh, Vinh Loc B, Phong Phu, Cu Chi, Phu Hoa, Nguyen Van Cu, Phuoc Kieng High Schools increased by 1.5 points; Tan Tuc, Trung Lap High School increased by 1.25 points...

The resistance rate is understood as the total number of candidates registering for wishes divided by 1 for the total enrollment quota of the school.
In 2024, statistics show that there are 77 high schools with a competition rate of over 1.0. Of which, 15 high schools have a difficulty rate of 2.0 or higher, including: Nguyen Huu Huan High School has the highest difficulty rate of 1/3.22 (ie, for each average of 3.22 candidates registered, 1 person will be admitted). The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that in the 2025-2026 school year, public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City will recruit more than 70,000 students, achieving an enrollment rate of about 79%, an increase of 14% compared to 2024, which is 65%.
This year's 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City will take place on June 6 and 7. Candidates will take 3 subjects: Math, Literature (120 minutes/subject) and Foreign Language (90 minutes, according to foreign language 1 being studied at school). Candidates who register for a specialized school or integrated class will take an additional exam in a specialized subject or equivalent integrated (150 minutes).
