Olympia Champion 2024: Passion for Conquering from Grade 1

HUE - The reigning champion of Road to Olympia 2024, Vo Quang Phu Duc, has had a passion for conquering "Road to Olympia" since first grade.

Vo Quang Phu Duc, a 12th grade math student at Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted in Hue, is one of the four excellent contestants participating in the final round of the 24th Road to Olympia. After going through four rounds, "mountain climber" Vo Quang Phu Duc excelled over the three remaining contestants to win the laurel wreath.

What did the principal say about the champion?

After witnessing student Vo Quang Phu Duc excellently win the final laurel wreath, teacher Nguyen Phu Tho - Principal of Hue National High School for the Gifted, recounted that when he first entered Hue National School, Phu Duc showed his talent in Math. He was a student specializing in Math at the school, and was once a reserve to participate in the Math team for the National Excellent Student Competition.

“During his studies, Duc was very hard-working, energetic, sociable, and a very responsible student. Besides studying and practicing well, Duc also enthusiastically participated in school movements and union and association activities,” said teacher Nguyen Phu Tho.

Phu Duc also actively participates in competitions outside of school. Together with two other students of Quoc Hoc Hue High School, Duc won first prize in the Heritage with Schools competition jointly organized by the Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien Hue province and the Hue Monuments Conservation Center.

Right at the moment when the Hue bridge burst into joy, unable to hide his emotions, Mr. Tho proudly expressed: “I am truly happy that Phu Duc is the one who brought glory to Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted in Hue. Phu Duc has continued the tradition of his predecessors at the intellectual playground Road to Olympia. At the same time, he will inspire the next generations. Hopefully, in the coming years, Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted in Hue will have excellent climbers in this program.”

Passionate about conquering the "Road to the Top" since childhood

Born into a family with a tradition of studiousness, Vo Quang Phu Duc was equipped with a foundation of knowledge from a young age. Duc's mother is an agricultural engineer, and his father is a mechanical engineer. For 11 consecutive years, Duc has always achieved the title of excellent student.

It is known that the subjects that the champion of Road to Olympia 2024 loves the most are Math and Foreign Languages. Besides, this young man loves to explore new things and innovate in many fields.

According to Vo Quang Phu Duc, he is a person who is very passionate about reading books, likes to learn new things from books, especially science programs. Since first grade, Phu Duc has had a passion for the program Road to Olympia, along with the dream of participating in the program.

To prepare well for the final match of Road to Olympia this year, Duc himself has always cultivated and improved his knowledge, prepared himself mentally and confidently.

“The Road to Olympia is an intellectual playground, requiring a deep and broad knowledge base. Therefore, I constantly seek out and learn new knowledge, and consolidate old knowledge. At the same time, I always keep a relaxed and confident spirit before entering each competition,” said Phu Duc.

To date, Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted is the school with 7 contestants reaching the final round of Road to Olympia. Before Phu Duc, Hue had 6 other climbers who had reached the final round of Road to Olympia, including: Nguyen Nguyen Thai Bao - Runner-up in 2005, Nguyen Manh Tan - Runner-up in 2008, Ho Ngoc Han - Champion in 2009. Thai Ngoc Huy - Runner-up in 2011. Ho Dac Thanh Chuong - Champion in 2016, Nguyen Minh Triet - Runner-up in 2023.
