From August 5-7, 2024, the Department of Education and Training (DOET) of Ninh Binh Province cooperated with Vietnam Education Publishing and Equipment Investment Joint Stock Company (VEPIC) to organize a training session for teachers on the content of the high school graduation exam according to the 2018 General Education Program.
In the 2024-2025 school year, the 2018 General Education Program will be applied uniformly from grade 1 to grade 12. This is the first year that the high school graduation exam will be implemented according to the new program. Many teachers believe that this exam is an opportunity and a challenge for teachers and students to change their teaching and learning methods.
Ms. Nguyen Hoang Van - Head of the History-Geography team, Lương Văn Tụy High School - evaluated that the process of setting up the exam questions was very difficult.

According to that, for the History subject, the new exam questions have added a multiple-choice correct/incorrect type, and many types of knowledge between the old and new programs have caused teachers to be very puzzled when creating teaching content for students.
"Our teachers are very eager to have training sessions with the authors of the textbooks and the chief editors of the program to be guided on how to do it correctly. At the same time, we hope to have reference books - supporting tools for teachers" - Ms. Nguyen Hoang Van expressed her hope.
Academician-Professor Dr. Do Duc Thai - Chief Editor of the Mathematics program of the Cánh diều textbook series - stated that the 2018 General Education Program requires learners to meet the goals of competence and quality; provide correct career guidance for students and help students prepare well for the high school graduation exam.

It is these requirements that pose difficulties for teachers in this year of fundamental and comprehensive change in the work of checking and evaluating education.
"For many years, we have changed the high school graduation exam format with a new type of exam questions, teachers need to study the guidelines of the sector to prepare and meet the needs of students" - Academician-Professor Dr. Do Duc Thai said.
Sharing the same view, Associate Professor-Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Chief Editor of the Physics program of the Cánh diều textbook series - evaluated that according to the new program, the questions must be linked to reality, which poses a significant challenge for teachers.
This change is due to the specific nature of the exam, requiring teachers to change their thinking in building questions to evaluate students.
