In 2025, students studying the 2018 General Education Program will take their graduation exams. Therefore, the high school graduation exam will also have many innovations and changes to suit the program.
To best prepare the necessary conditions for organizing the exam, and at the same time help schools, teachers and students be proactive in review, teaching and learning activities, the Ministry of Education and Training has announced the reference questions for the 2025 high school graduation exam.
In recent days, the illustrative math exam for the 2025 high school graduation exam has been a topic of discussion among Pham Khanh An, a 12th grade student at Viet Duc High School, Hanoi, and his friends.
Commenting on the math sample test, Khanh An said: "The test is quite difficult because true or false questions can easily lose points."
According to Nguyen Minh Thu, a student at Viet Duc High School, the exam has many practical questions, forcing students to change their learning and test-taking methods.
"If you only memorize simple formulas like before, it will be difficult to find the correct answer in real questions. This helps the exam increase differentiation, accurately assessing the learner's ability" - Minh Thu analyzed.
Ms. Nguyen Hong Nhung - Math teacher - Viet Duc High School commented that the Math illustration test announced by the Ministry of Education and Training has a completely new structure, consisting of 3 parts: Multiple choice test (3 points); True or false test (4 points), Short answer test (3 points).
In part 3, there are many highly differentiated questions, mainly knowledge in grade 12. However, there are still some questions and exercises with knowledge specific to grade 11, some questions combine knowledge from 3 blocks 10, 11, 12.
This structure shows that the exam has improved knowledge, meeting the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program.
"There are practical questions in the exam and most students tend to skip them because they find them long and they are afraid of analyzing the questions. However, in terms of mathematical knowledge, the questions are not too difficult. The difficulty for students is due to the innovation, the number of practical questions appearing is greater" - Ms. Thu assessed.
To solve practical questions in the exam, Ms. Thu believes that both teachers and students need to change in the process of studying and reviewing for the high school graduation exam.
"During the process of doing the test and reviewing, students need to pay attention to mastering the background knowledge, at the same time improving their reading comprehension and analysis skills. The content of the practical questions presents real-life hypotheses, requires calculation of certain factors, from there, transfer to mathematical knowledge and process according to the test requirements" - Ms. Hong Nhung advised her students.
According to the opinion of the Math teacher of HOCMAI Education System (Hanoi), the questions at the application level (accounting for about 27%, equivalent to about 4 points), focus on practical, interdisciplinary applied problems and belong to the topics of functions, antiderivatives - integrals, probability, spatial geometry and Oxyz geometry.
To handle these questions, students must have solid knowledge and skills, and at the same time need to be calm and quick-witted as well as have good thinking skills to be able to model mathematics and solve difficult mathematical problems.
