On July 16, information from Hien Son Secondary School (Bach Ha Commune, Nghe An Province) said that it had sent a document to the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An Province, reporting that after the end of the secondment as planned, the school had 12 teachers who had been transferred to the old unit. Meanwhile, next school year, the school plans to maintain 16 classes, needing to add 13 teachers to ensure teaching arrangement.
The subjects lacking teachers include: Math (2), Literature,... English (2), Physical Education (2), Citizen Education (1), Natural Sciences or Physics (1), Information Technology (1)). Notably, the school still does not have a teacher for Informatics - a mandatory subject in the new general education program.
Principal Nguyen Van Dan emphasized: "If not supplemented in a timely manner, the organization of teaching and learning will fall into crisis, seriously affecting the learning rights of students".
Not only Hien Son Secondary School, previously, Huu Khuong Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities (Huu Khuong Commune) also submitted a document to the Nghe An Department of Education and Training proposing to add 15 personnel including 12 teachers and 3 school staff.
These are remote units, areas with special difficulties, the lack of too many teachers puts schools in a difficult position, risking "disappearance" in teaching many important subjects.
Faced with this situation, schools urgently request the Nghe An Department of Education and Training to promptly consider the plan to regulate, supplement the payroll, or recruit new teachers and staff to ensure stable teaching and learning activities when the new school year is approaching.
On July 16, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of Nghe An Department of Education and Training said that they had received a document from the two schools mentioned above regarding the proposal to add more teachers and staff to the school. In addition, many other schools have also reported a shortage of teachers and staff and proposed additional additions.
"The situation of local shortage of teachers and staff (in addition to schools with favorable conditions and high incentives; shortage in disadvantaged areas) occurs frequently and severely, which is a difficult problem for the industry. Previously, the management of staffing and teacher mobilization was under the authority of the district-level People's Committee. From July 1, 2025, based on Decree 142/2025, the above authority has been assigned to the Department of Education and Training.
However, the Ministry of Education and Training is currently in the process of issuing a Circular guiding the functions, tasks, and powers of the Department of Education and Training and the field of education and training of the professional department under the People's Committees of communes, wards, and special zones, so we need to wait.
After having the official document, the Department will take measures to ensure a balance of the teaching staff in the area" - said a representative of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training.
