The attraction of semiconductor industry
If every year, Bac Ninh Industrial College (Bac Ninh City) only recruits about 70 students in the industrial automation major, then in the 2024-2025 school year, this number will increase more than 3 times with 215 students enrolled.
The school's leaders said that the unit is aiming to become a place to train high-quality human resources, providing for the semiconductor industry, especially for businesses in Bac Ninh province.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, lecturer of the Faculty of Electricity and Electronics, Bac Ninh Industrial College, said that students will receive in-depth training in subjects and modules related to semiconductor practical devices.
"From this accumulation process, when working in jobs related to semiconductors, students will have easy access," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong.
In addition to Bac Ninh Industrial College, the province currently has 56 vocational training institutions and another vocational training school, Bac Ninh College of Electromechanics and Construction.
According to the direction of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province, schools have been selected to invest in key schools and key industries, actively invest in equipment, and build programs to ensure high-quality training criteria and develop the semiconductor industry.
At the same time, schools also strengthen cooperation with semiconductor manufacturing enterprises in Bac Ninh province such as Samsung, Goertek Vina, Amkor... to improve training quality and increase the rate of students graduating and working in the right profession.
Studying semiconductors in Bac Ninh, receiving nearly 3 million VND/month
Previously, on June 28, 2024, the People's Council of Bac Ninh province issued a Resolution on supporting teachers, students at vocational training institutions, universities to train high-quality human resources and the semiconductor industry to serve the digital industry in Bac Ninh province.
According to the Resolution, Professors, Associate Professors, and PhDs in semiconductors from other provinces who are recruited and commit to working for at least 10 years will receive financial support from Bac Ninh to buy a house, worth 1 billion VND.
In addition, they also receive one-time financial support. Professors receive VND200 million for men and VND220 million for women. Associate professors receive VND140-160 million, respectively. At the doctoral level, it is VND100-120 million.
According to the Resolution, Bac Ninh will support teachers with master's degrees who return from other provinces and commit to working for at least 10 years. The support level is 80 million VND for men and 100 million VND for women.
Teachers in the province, if participating in short-term semiconductor training courses at home and abroad, will receive 100% support for tuition and learning materials.
Students and workers are granted 1.64 to 2.94 million VND/month if they study semiconductor-related majors in the province (from intermediate to university). The amount depends on the level of study.
According to Chairman of Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan, the above policy aims to serve the digital industry in the province, in the period of 2024 - 2030, striving to turn Bac Ninh into a high-tech industrial center, especially in the semiconductor field.
