This year, enrollment in 10th grade high schools is no longer limited by administrative boundaries as before. With the new regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, 9th grade secondary school students can register for admission to schools suitable for their abilities, travel conditions and personal aspirations, not mandatory according to residence.
Thereby, contributing to expanding learning opportunities, while improving competitiveness and quality of enrollment between high schools.
Mr. Nguyen Van Chien, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Son La province, said that organizing the exam immediately after the end of the school year helps students retain knowledge and reduce prolonged review pressure.
According to Mr. Chien, because this year's exam questions are innovated in the direction of assessing practical application capacity, secondary schools are focusing on reviewing test-taking skills, thinking and the ability to apply knowledge for students.
Along with preparing facilities, plans to ensure security, traffic safety, electricity, health and support for candidates are also built in detail. Exam sites have reviewed exam rooms, areas for preserving exam questions and papers and proactively developed plans to respond to floods and incidents.
Police, medical, electricity, volunteers and traffic forces are assigned to coordinate to ensure safety at the exam sites.
For students in remote and isolated areas, in difficult circumstances, localities also arrange support for food, accommodation, and transportation so that they can feel secure in taking the exam.

These days, in many secondary schools in the province, the review work is entering the final stage. Mr. Pham Thai Hung - Principal of Chieng An Secondary School, Chieng An ward, said that the school has 112 students who are eligible to participate in the 10th grade high school entrance exam.
The school organizes tutoring for 9th grade students from February 2026 to now. At the same time, it organizes 4 mock exam sessions for students to get acquainted with the exam structure, practice exam skills and stabilize their psychology before the exam," Mr. Hung said.
Teacher Hung added that teachers focus on consolidating core knowledge, guiding students on skills to allocate time, avoiding subjective psychology as well as excessive pressure when doing the test.
