    HCMC - Students in the city can have a 4-day New Year's holiday in 2026.

    On December 9, at the Conference of the General Education Professional Committee of the first semester, teachers asked whether schools can give students an extra day off on Friday (January 2) on Thursday?

    The leader of the Department of Education and Training (DET) of Ho Chi Minh City said that the Department has given the initiative to schools, principals will decide on giving students a day off on January 2.

    According to the Department, schools can arrange for students to have a day off from Thursday (January 1, 2026) to Sunday (January 4, 2026), creating a 4-day holiday and organizing make-up classes afterwards.

    With the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday schedule, Ho Chi Minh City plans to give students 14 days off, from February 9, 2026 to February 22, 2026 (ie from December 22 to the 6th day of Tet).
