On the morning of January 14, speaking with Lao Dong, a representative of the Department of Education and Training of Hai Phong City said that after the incident at Thien Huong Kindergarten (Thien Huong Ward, Thuy Nguyen City, Hai Phong), this morning, the Department worked with the Heads of the Department's preschool and primary school departments and representatives of the Department of Education and Training of Thuy Nguyen City and a number of related localities to review the work of ensuring school security and safety.
The Department requested the Department of Education and Training of Thuy Nguyen City to provide a detailed report on the incident to coordinate in resolving the issue and ensuring the child's safety. Up to now, the Department has also received a detailed report of the incident from the school.
Also according to Mr. Tran Tien Chinh - Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training, every year, the Department has issued instructions on strengthening school security and safety. Most recently, on December 5, 2024, the Department issued a document directing and requesting units to regularly organize propaganda, dissemination, and update new forms and methods of fraud for students and parents; develop many educational solutions, support students to recognize and prevent fraudulent behaviors; skills to guard against strangers and protect themselves when in danger for students. Along with that, review and strengthen communication between educational institutions and students' families; ensure that information channels between schools and parents are always open.
However, after the incident at Thien Huong Kindergarten, the Department will continue to direct lessons learned and further tighten security issues at schools.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, at around 4:30 p.m. on January 13, Ms. N.T.H (residing in Thien Huong Ward, Thuy Nguyen City) went to pick up her daughter, N.T.M (born in 2021), a 3-year-old student at Thien Huong Kindergarten, and discovered that a stranger had picked her up earlier. The family immediately reported to the authorities and the police to coordinate the search. However, as of 10:30 a.m. on January 14, the child had not been found.
According to information from the leader of Thien Huong ward, this morning, the ward received information that this woman was in Le Chan district. Thien Huong ward police are coordinating to search for and arrest the subject. According to information from the leader of Thien Huong ward, the woman in black who took the girl away is from Hoang Lam ward (also in Thuy Nguyen city). The subject showed unusual behavior. At the time of taking the child away, this subject was wearing a black sun-protection shirt with a hood, white patterns, plaid pants and slippers.
Currently, authorities are continuing to search for the child.
