On the afternoon of November 14, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh attended a science and technology exhibition to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the University of Transport (19452025).
Speaking at the event, Minister Tran Hong Minh said that the research products and applied technologies of the University of Transport such as the Truong Son cable bridge solution, nhang Long bridge repair technology, mechanical - electronic systems to support national railway operations are clear evidence of the creativity and dedication of the school's collective.
Recently, the University of Transport has proactively coordinated with the Ministry of Construction to implement many key scientific and technological tasks: Building human resources; researching and localizing technical standards, especially the modern railway standard system serving strategic transport projects.
In the coming period, the Minister requested the school to focus resources, promote the role of a scientific and technological locomotive of the transport sector, and carry out a number of tasks: participating in the construction and operation of industrial complexes and national key laboratories on railways; linking research, training, and technology testing for high-speed railway and urban railway projects.
The school needs to continue to participate in key transport projects, from research, design to consulting, supervision, technology transfer; complete training programs and learning materials for the construction sector such as railways, highways, airports, logistics, smart transportation; share the program framework and learning materials with training institutions under the Ministry of Construction.
The Minister also proposed promoting international cooperation in the fields of construction, transportation, new materials, digital transformation to improve integration capacity and localization of technology; strengthening the role of a center for innovation, creating an environment for students, lecturers, and businesses to research, start up, and develop scientific and technological products to serve the economy and society.
At the event, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Hung, Principal of the University of Transport, said that many scientific and technological products of the school have made practical contributions to the transportation industry: Cable bridge solutions over Truong Son; bamboo stakes to reinforce the Ho Chi Minh trail...
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Hung, implementing the direction of the Government, the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Education and Training on research, understanding, and mastering modern railway technology, from March 2025, the school will implement a new training program for all 5 high-speed railway majors; training for second degrees and modern railway professional development for more than 2,000 engineers in the transport sector.
This is the first training program in Vietnam that fully integrates new and modern knowledge according to international standards, meeting the general training strategy for the modern railway industry.
With the coordination of many units, the school has been approved by the Ministry of Education and Training for a science and technology program to research technical solutions for high-speed railway infrastructure. The Ministry of Construction also approved many topics for decoding modern railway standards and technology.
The products of the university of Transport's version and marking of the standards for electrification of railways, high-speed railways and railway construction norms of China and Europe have been completed ahead of schedule and widely disseminated to specialized agencies, creating an important scientific and technical basis for the implementation of key national railway projects in the coming time.
