On June 9, according to reporters' records, along with many school projects being invested in highland communes of Lao Cai province, the Ban Vuoc Primary and Secondary Boarding School Project is receiving great attention and expectations from people in the Bat Xat border area.
According to Decision No. 1663 of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, the project has a total investment of 265 billion VND, of which site clearance costs are about 23 billion VND. This is a level III civil works, level IV technical infrastructure, with a design term of at least 50 years.
The project is expected to be implemented from 2026 to 2027 using central budget capital, provincial budget and other legal capital sources.
According to the approved plan, the project will synchronously build many items including classroom blocks, administration buildings, multi-purpose buildings, cultural houses, student dormitories, teacher dormitories, kitchens, internal transportation systems and technical infrastructure, fire prevention and fighting and teaching equipment.
When completed, the school will meet the learning needs of about 980 students with 28 classes, including 12 primary school classes and 16 secondary school classes.
Reporters' records at the local level show that the majority of people agree with the project investment policy.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, a resident of Bat Xat commune, said that building a new boarding school has been the desire of many households in the area for a long time. Currently, many students in highland villages have to travel far or live in poor conditions.
If the school is invested in spaciously and has a full dormitory, the children will have better learning conditions. We, the people, strongly support this policy," Mr. Thang shared.
Meanwhile, Ms. Hoang Thi Dung, a parent in the area, said that the project not only helps improve the quality of education but also creates motivation for students in border areas to feel secure in going to school.
I hope the project will be implemented soon so that children in the area can study in a better environment. In addition, compensation and support policies for affected people also need to be implemented publicly, ensuring the legitimate rights of people," Ms. Dung expressed.
According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Chairman of Bat Xat Commune People's Committee, Ban Vuoc Primary and Secondary Boarding School is an important project for the development of the locality.
Chairman of Bat Xat Commune People's Committee emphasized that the project after completion will ensure facilities for learning, teaching and living for teachers and students; and at the same time contribute to improving the quality of education, people's knowledge and the quality of human resources in the border area.
The project will create conditions to train human resources who are ethnic minorities in the locality, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of people in border areas. This is also one of the meaningful projects in consolidating national defense, security and promoting socio-economic development in the area," Mr. Hung added.
Leaders of Bat Xat Commune People's Committee affirmed that the locality will coordinate with the investor and related units to effectively implement site clearance, propaganda, and mobilize people to agree with the project.
Issues arising will be reviewed and resolved promptly right from the grassroots level, ensuring democracy, publicity and compliance with the law.
