On December 2, the Department of Construction of Quang Tri province said that the whole province currently has 120 weak bridges that need to be rebuilt or upgraded. In particular, the Northern Quang Tri province has 49 bridges, the Southern Quang Tri province has 71 bridges in a state of worrying degradation.
Many bridges have been severely damaged, often threatening the safety of people, such as the Xa Ry village bridge (Huong Phung commune) after floods, which has changed the flow, causing the bridge abutment to break and sink. Thuc 1 village bridge (Ben Quan commune) has peeling bridge surfaces, bridge abutments and slopes collapse. Thuong Hoa bridge (Vinh Linh commune) has sunk, limiting traffic. Truong Ky Bridge (Vinh Hoang Commune) has an upper-lower-lower wings that are not connected, the bridge deck is cracked, the railings are completely damaged.

Not only weak bridges, the whole province also needs to invest in 209 more flood bridges. In the northern region alone, there are 113 bridges, most of which are located in mountainous and low-lying areas that are often deeply flooded during the rainy and stormy season.
In fact, at Rach bridge on the Cau Nhi village - Nam Chanh village route (Nam Hai Lang commune), there are about 5 floods per year, with water levels from 0.5m to 2m. Cay Tam village bridge (Ben Quan commune) was even flooded from 0.5m to 3.5m, sometimes flooding lasted almost all year round, causing continuous traffic disruption.
According to the Department of Construction, the total budget needed to repair, upgrade and rebuild weak bridges, flood bridges and damaged spillways is estimated at nearly 4,000 billion VND.
The leader of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province said that local budget sources are still limited and urgent items cannot be implemented simultaneously. In the coming time, the province will implement investment projects for repair and upgrading in priority order, focusing on bridges that are severely damaged, greatly affecting people's lives and safety.
