Soc Trang province is actively implementing key projects, including Component Project 4 of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway Project Phase 1 (Component Project 4) and the East-West Economic Development Axis Project. However, the progress of some projects is still slow, requiring the drastic participation of relevant parties.
According to the report, after more than a year and a half of implementation, Component Project 4 has only achieved 19.1% of the contract value, equivalent to 1,545 billion/8,092 billion VND. The reason is determined to be that there are not many construction packages implemented, there is a lack of filling materials and the relocation of power works is still slow.
Meanwhile, the East-West Economic Development Axis Project has made better progress with 83% of the implementation value, equivalent to VND 1,231.9/1,487.4 billion (excluding contingency costs). However, this project is also facing difficulties in the supply of aggregate and crushed stone materials due to market scarcity and high prices.
On January 10, at the meeting of the Steering Committee for key construction investment projects, Secretary of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee Lam Van Man requested contractors to have a sense of responsibility towards the Party Committee, government and people in the province in implementing projects and works. He requested relevant parties to completely resolve difficulties in sand sources before June 30, 2025; synchronously deploy items such as bridges, public roads, and organic soil excavation on the expressway.
The Secretary of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee requested construction units to urgently gather personnel, equipment, and materials, and take advantage of favorable weather to speed up the progress of the works. Investors of works and projects must organize weekly progress checks and take decisive measures to deal with contractors who do not meet requirements. Heads of units and localities must directly direct the removal of difficulties and obstacles related to works and projects implemented by units and localities or related to them.
