At the Conference to summarize basic construction work in 2024 and tasks and solutions for 2025 of the People's Committee of Can Tho City held on March 6, the leaders of the People's Committee of Ninh Kieu District informed about the Investment Project to build, renovate and expand 5 key intersections in the area, with a total investment of more than 1,196 billion VND.
Mr. Huynh Trung Tru - Chairman of Ninh Kieu District People's Committee - said that the two intersections No. 1 (Mau Than - 3 Thang 2 - Tran Hung Dao) and No. 4 (Trang 2 - Nguyen Van Linh) will be prioritized for implementation first. It is expected that intersection No. 1 will start construction in mid-March, while intersection No. 4 will start construction at the end of March.

According to Mr. Tru, Ninh Kieu district has been allocated 300 billion VND to implement the project and is focusing on site clearance. For intersection No. 1, more than 1/3 of households have handed over the land. Intersection No. 4 has been handed over by more than 50% of households, the remaining will be completed before April 30, 2025.
For the remaining 3 intersections (intersections 2, 3 and 5), the district will implement further depending on capital sources. Currently, the district has a plan to reclaim the land and is carrying out the necessary procedures.
In addition, Ninh Kieu district also registered to complete 5 other projects to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, including: Upgrading and renovating 30/4 Street (from Xuan Khanh Market to Tran Van Hoai Street); Upgrading and renovating trees on Chau Van Liem and Nguyen Van Linh streets; Renovating sidewalks of 12 routes and in front of the headquarters of the City Party Committee and People's Committee; Renovation and upgrading of residential roads on both sides of Hung Loi Bridge; Xang Thoi Lake Upgrade and Renovation Project (completed).

According to the leader of the Ninh Kieu District Project Management and Land Fund Development Board, the No. 1 intersection has an estimated compensation cost of about 578 billion VND. The total number of affected households is about 122 cases, with more than 480 people. The total area of recovered land is about 5,960m2.
Up to now, intersection No. 1 has paid compensation to 18/28 cases, reaching 52.91% of approved funding; at the same time, it has completed the work of counting, measuring land, houses, architectural objects and announcing land recovery.
Intersection No. 4 has an estimated compensation cost of about 96.5 billion VND. To date, compensation has been paid to 28/31 households, reaching 81% of the approved budget; the work of counting, measuring land, houses, architectural objects and announcing land recovery has been completed; the announcement of site allocation has been implemented to 29 households.
The project to renovate and expand 5 key intersections is of great significance in reducing traffic congestion, improving traffic capacity, contributing to improving urban aesthetics and promoting the socio-economic development of Ninh Kieu district in particular and Can Tho city in general.

The 5 renovated intersections include: intersection No. 1 (Mau Than - 3 February - Tran Hung Dao); intersection No. 2 (Mau Than - Nguyen Van Cu - Vo Van Kiet); intersection No. 3 (Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Van Cu); intersection No. 4 (Nguyen Van Linh - 3 February) and intersection No. 5 (Nguyen Van Linh - 30/4).
