Thanh Hoa - For many years, people in a ward in Thanh Hoa City have to go through a bridge with a hammock, seriously degraded and at risk of subsidence at any time.

Accordingly, in recent years, the concrete bridge across the Thong Nhat River (in Quang Phu ward) has been sinking in the water and seriously degraded, potentially dangerous for people and vehicles when circulating through here.

Ms. Truong Thi Nhung (44 years old, residing in Quang Phu ward) said that she often moved through this bridge. Over the years, the bridge has been seriously degraded, but due to its convenience and close accommodation, despite the dangerous potential, people still accept traveling across the bridge.

"In the dry season, it is still better, the bridge is hammock but can still go. Especially in the rainy season, when the river water is united, it is very difficult to cross and hide many dangers" - Ms. Nhung shared.

Also according to many people in Quarter 2 and Quarter 3, Quang Phu Ward, every day there are many people going to this bridge every day, including many students who often go to school here.

The fact that the bridge is now hammock in the middle, on the bridge, the railing system has many iron pillars that are rusty, corrosive, even broken the legs. Some of the railings have been lost, potentially the risk of accidents for people when traveling.

According to the representative of Quang Phu Ward People's Committee, this bridge was built more than 50 years ago and has been seriously degraded for many years.

In order to solve the problem and create convenient travel conditions for people, at the end of 2024, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa City approved the investment policy to build a new replacement bridge. The project is expected to be constructed and completed in 2025.
