Long-term, capital-intensive project in Hanoi to be completed in 2025

Hanoi - After many years of delay and an additional capital increase of nearly VND 1,290 billion, the Tam Trinh Road expansion project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

Approved for investment policy in 2012, construction started in 2016, but it was not until August 2024 that Hoang Mai district (Hanoi) handed over the first part of the cleared land (about 800m) for the contractor to start construction to expand Tam Trinh street.

Hoang Mai District Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the Tam Trinh Road expansion project is divided into 2 construction phases.

Phase 1 will be constructed on the left side of the route in sections where the ground is already cleared. Phase 2 will be constructed on the existing section of Tam Trinh Street.

At the Tam Trinh Road Expansion Project construction site in late November, the contractor is mobilizing many machines and workers to construct items such as burying the drainage system, digging and filling the roadbed, spreading crushed stone, and treating weak soil at locations where the ground is already cleared.

After about 4 months of construction, the contractor has basically completed the retaining wall project on the Kim Nguu River side.

According to the contractor representative, the construction period of this project is 650 days, from July 31, 2024, and the unit is closely following the schedule.

"We are implementing the project in a rolling manner, aiming to complete 4 sections with a total length of 800m by the end of this year, including areas in Mai Dong, Yen So, and Hoang Van Thu wards," said a contractor representative.

According to the contractor's representative, the assigned site is still "uneven" and not continuous, causing some difficulties during the construction process.

Therefore, the contractor hopes that the locality will soon hand over the remaining site so that the contractor can organize synchronous construction throughout the project, maximizing the efficiency of machinery and equipment.

At the Conference on contact and dialogue with the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations and people in Hoang Mai district in 2024 yesterday (November 28), Hoang Mai District Party Secretary Nguyen Xuan Linh said that the district will complete site clearance for the Tam Trinh Road expansion project before December 31, 2024, determined to complete the entire project by December 31, 2025.

When completed, Tam Trinh Street will have a cross-section of 40m, accommodating 6 lanes, expected to reduce traffic pressure on the main roads of the southern gateway of Hanoi, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of Hoang Mai district in particular and the capital in general.

The Tam Trinh Street expansion project was approved by the Hanoi People's Committee in 2012, with a total investment of VND 2,066 billion.

The invested construction route is about 3.5km long, starting point connecting with Minh Khai street, ending point intersecting with Ring Road 3.

The project started in 2016 and was expected to be completed after 3 years, but was delayed due to difficulties in site clearance.

By December 2023, the Hanoi People's Committee issued a decision to adjust the project, increasing the investment capital to VND 3,354 billion, an increase of VND 1,287 billion. The project implementation period was also adjusted from 2016-2026, 7 years later than the original plan.
