Recently, the Hanoi Urban Railway Project Management Board has coordinated with the People's Committee of Quoc Oai commune to collect opinions on the route plan, location, and construction according to the Hanoi Urban Railway Construction Investment Project, Line 5 (Van Cao - Ngoc Khanh - Lang - Hoa Lac).
The urban railway line No. 5 has a total length of about 41.9km, passing through 9 wards and 10 communes, starting at the Van Cao - Hoang Hoa Tham intersection (Ngoc Ha ward), ending at the Yen Bai commune area, Hanoi.
This line has 21 stations including 6 underground stations, 15 floating stations (about 6km underground, about 2km above ground and about 30km above ground), 2 depot areas.
Of which, the section passing through Quoc Oai commune has a total length of 2.84km; 2 stations (S13 station - Sai Son station km20+047 and S14 station - Quoc Oai station km21+683); the land area used is about 7.03ha (including traffic and irrigation land).
Urban railway line No. 5 has a total investment of more than VND 61,900 billion. The goal of the project is to connect the central urban area and Hoa Lac satellite urban area; restructure urban traffic; reduce traffic congestion; strengthen the radial traffic corridor, complete the public transport network.
At the conference, Vice Chairman of Quoc Oai Commune People's Committee Nguyen Huu Son emphasized that urban railway line No. 5 is of great significance in connecting central areas of Hanoi with the suburbs, including Quoc Oai commune.
When the route is put into operation, it will help reduce traffic pressure on existing routes, especially Thang Long Boulevard; contribute to promoting socio-economic development, attracting investment and creating many job opportunities for localities with routes.
Vice Chairman of Quoc Oai Commune People's Committee Nguyen Huu Son requested the departments, branches and sectors of the commune to coordinate with the Hanoi Urban Railway Project Management Board to speed up the project implementation progress.
Previously, on July 17, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan requested the city's departments, branches, People's Committees of communes, wards, and related units to urgently and seriously implement the direction of the Chairman of the City People's Committee in Notice No. 414/TB-VP dated July 8, 2025 of the City People's Committee Office, ensuring the progress of the start of investment projects to build urban railway lines starting in 2025: Line No. 2, Nam Thang Long - Tran Hung Dao on October 10, 2025 and Line No. 5, Van Cao - Hoa Lac on December 19, 2025. Timely advise, propose, and report to the City People's Committee to remove difficulties and obstacles (if any).
Request the Urban Railway Management Board to focus, preside over, and closely coordinate with the city's departments, branches, People's Committees of communes, wards, and related units, urgently implement the direction of the Chairman of the City People's Committee in Notice No. 414/TB VP dated July 8, 2025 of the City People's Committee Office, deploy investment projects to build urban railway lines starting in 2025 to ensure the required progress.
