Co Linh underground tunnel
Co Linh intersection (Long Bien district) is one of the key intersections of Hanoi city , with a large volume of vehicles, an overpass was invested in 2017 to ensure smooth traffic from Vinh Tuy bridge to Vinh Tuy bridge. Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway.
By August 2023, Vinh Tuy 2 bridge opened to traffic after 2.5 years of construction, the number of vehicles moving across the bridge faster, accumulating at Co Linh intersection and the road leading to Vinh Tuy bridge, leading to congestion. more complicated than before.
To solve the above situation, recently, Hanoi People's Committee approved an investment project to build an underground tunnel at Co Linh intersection, Long Bien district.

The project has a total length of about 600m (of which the length of the closed tunnel is 100m, the length of the open tunnel is about 260m; the retaining wall and wheel guard is 240m), connecting to Dam Quang Trung street and Vinh Tuy bridgehead road).
The project has a total investment of nearly 750 billion VND from the city budget, with the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor. Project implementation progress from 2024 to 2026.

The tunnel was built with reinforced concrete structure in the direction of Vinh Tuy - Long Bien and vice versa. After completion, the tunnel's cross-section will be 27.1m with 6 lanes.
After the tunnel opens to traffic, the Co Linh intersection - Vinh Tuy bridge approach road will be an intersection with 3 levels of road including overpass, road at the existing intersection and underpass.
The investment in the project is to close Ring Road 2 according to planning, synchronously build a traffic infrastructure system to resolve traffic conflicts at intersections, and connect the surrounding roads. Gradually improve the transport infrastructure system and reduce environmental pollution.
Belt Tunnel 3.5
In the period 2022 - 2026, Hanoi will also implement a project to build a different-level intersection between Ring Road 3.5 and Thang Long Avenue (section through Hoai Duc district).
The project includes an underground tunnel in the direction of Ring Road 3.5 (Hoang Tung Street) - National Highway 32 with a total length of 975m, 18.5m wide.
Four branch bridges are made of prestressed reinforced concrete with a total length of more than 2,300m, bridge width of 8.8m, reinforced concrete retaining wall more than 600m long.

The project has a total investment of more than 2,450 billion VND, invested by the Hanoi City Civil Construction Investment Project Management Board.
The construction of the Belt 3.5 intersection project with Thang Long Avenue aims to complete the traffic infrastructure system according to planning, connection, and reasonable exploitation with the already built traffic infrastructure.
At the same time, it reduces traffic congestion , contributes to the development of production and business, accelerates the formation of urban areas in the region, and promotes the socio-economic development of the Capital in general.
