The project to expand National Highway 3 from the intersection of National Highway 18 to the intersection to Soc Temple is one of the key traffic projects in Soc Son district (Hanoi), implemented in the period of 2024 - 2027.
The project is about 6.7km long, starting at Km19+640 National Highway 3 at the intersection with National Highway 18 (National Highway 18 overpass) in Phu Lo commune; ending at Km26+370 National Highway 3, the intersection with the road to Soc temple, Phu Linh commune.
The project has a total investment of over 1,480 billion VND, with the People's Committee of Soc Son district as the investor. Of which, the cost of compensation, support for site clearance and resettlement is nearly 700 billion VND; the construction cost is over 560 billion VND; the contingency cost is 172 billion VND.
The road has a normal roadbed cross-section of 52m; the sidewalks on each side are 8m wide... The section passing through the auction area of Tien Duoc commune, from Km23+067.5 to Km23+390, the roadbed has a cross-section of 60.8-62m. This is an urban road with a design speed of 80km/h.
According to preliminary calculations, to implement the project, Soc Son district plans to reclaim about 350,000 square meters of land in Phu Lo, Dong Xuan, Mai Dinh, Tien Duoc, Phu Linh communes and Soc Son town.
One of the issues that people are concerned about is the compensation, support and resettlement policy. Regarding this issue, the People's Committee of Soc Son district has publicly announced the compensation plan and the bases according to legal regulations.
According to Lao Dong, the current status of National Highway 3 is only a level 3 road (7-8m wide; no sidewalks, trees, and uneven lighting), relatively narrow, and often congested during rush hour.
Hearing that National Highway 3 from National Highway 18 to Soc Temple intersection is about to be expanded, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc (58 years old, Phu Linh commune, Soc Son) said that she strongly supports the city's policy to soon resolve the traffic jam and accident situation on this route.
"I hope the project will be implemented and completed on schedule so that people's travel will be more convenient and the lives of households along the route will also have many changes," said Ms. Ngoc.
According to the People's Committee of Soc Son district, investment in road expansion is necessary and urgent, contributing to completing the planned traffic network, helping to conveniently connect the central area of the capital to the northern provinces.
Create space for development of the central area of Soc Son district, gradually complete infrastructure, develop socio-economy, ensure national defense and security of Soc Son district in particular and Hanoi city in general.
