Reported by the Lao Dong Newspaper reporter showed that a paradox existed on many roads in Can Tho city has just been renovated: The floating road marks designed with the purpose of supporting the blind to move safely become dangers when leading into obstacles such as trees, electric poles, road columns. There are even many lines that are also suffered from the means of transportation, causing many difficulties and worrying about the blind community.

At Nguyen Trai, Ngo Quyen and many other streets, the yellow lines that are expected to be a "pilot" guide the blind people are designed in a scientific and unsafe manner.
Accordingly, instead of heading to safe intersections, convenient public works, sudden "ending" road marking with large trees in the middle of the sidewalk, or a towering electric pole blocking the aisle.
This situation not only makes it difficult for visually impaired and moving, but also has the potential to collide, leading to bad incidents.

Many people think that relevant functional units should urgently review and re -evaluate the entire road marking system for the visually impaired people in the city. The adjustment and redesign of scientific way, ensuring continuity, smoothness and leading to safe and convenient locations are extremely necessary.
Regarding the above issue, Mr. Nguyen Thai Bao - Vice Chairman of Ninh Kieu District People's Committee - admitted the inadequacy in paving sidewalks for the blind to "hold" the roots of trees and electric poles on some upgraded roads.

Vice Chairman of Ninh Kieu District People's Committee also explained that the cause stemming from the liberation of sidewalks has not been synchronized before, leading to the situation of the route caught in obstacles.
Mr. Nguyen Thai Bao added that the district directed to review, adjust the design and take measures to warn the blind. At the same time, the district also planned to clear the sidewalk and synchronously upgrade the central streets to solve this problem, towards a safer and more convenient transportation environment.
