Increase the maximum speed on Vinh - Cua Lo Avenue to 80km/h

QUANG ĐẠI |

Nghe An - From November 15, Vinh - Cua Lo Avenue will increase the maximum speed limit to 80km/h.

On November 14, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, Mr. Nguyen Duc An - Deputy Director of Nghe An Province Department of Transport - said that according to plan, from November 15, 2024, the Vinh - Cua Lo Boulevard project will be officially completed, handed over and put into use, and the maximum speed allowed on this route is set at 80km/h.

"Up to now, the installation of speed limit signs has been completed and the maximum speed limit mentioned above has been implemented," said Mr. Nguyen Duc An.

The above information brings joy to many people participating in traffic on this route.

Vinh - Cua Lo Boulevard is the traffic route with the largest road width in Nghe An province, opened to traffic on August 29.

Road construction boundary is from 72m to 290m wide, of which the main road is 32m wide (designed with 8 lanes for motor vehicles, each side is 16m wide including 4 lanes); the service road is 18m wide; the median strip is from 21m to 216m wide; the median strip on each side is 3m wide; the sidewalk on each side is 9m wide; the total investment in phase 2 is 1,415 billion VND.

This is a key project, a vital traffic route that creates growth momentum for Nghe An province's economy, opening up new development space.

However, after Vinh - Cua Lo Boulevard opened to traffic, many people reported shortcomings such as the maximum speed limit sign being too low (50km/h), too many crossroads with traffic lights...

According to the Department of Transport of Nghe An province, Vinh - Cua Lo boulevard has been opened to traffic but is not yet completed and is under construction. Therefore, to ensure the safety of road users and construction units, authorities only allow traffic on this route at a maximum speed of 50km/h.

Traffic lights are placed at intersections to ensure traffic safety. Previously, the number of roads crossing Vinh - Cua Lo Avenue was 17, now it has been reduced to 9.

Traffic organization and regulations on maximum permitted speed will be implemented when the construction of Vinh - Cua Lo Boulevard is completed.
