On June 9, Mr. Tran Hoang Vinh - Director of the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transport Works of Quang Ngai province said that the unit had issued a notice of commencement of the project to upgrade and renovate National Highway 24B.
Accordingly, the project has a total length of 6.75km; starting point at Km23+050 (North - South railway intersection), belonging to Truong Quang Trong ward; ending point at Km29+800 (ancient Tinh Son Commune People's Committee headquarters area), belonging to Son Tinh commune.
This is a grade III delta road, with a design speed of 80km/h. The roadbed is 17.4m wide, including 4 lanes. The road follows the existing road center, expanded to both sides; the entire road surface uses high-grade A1 asphalt concrete structure, and the bridge is prestressed reinforced concrete.

The project has a total investment of more than 679 billion VND, of which the central budget allocates nearly 600 billion VND. Construction costs are about 300 billion VND, compensation and site clearance are nearly 280 billion VND; the rest is contingency costs and other expenses.
According to the design, the project will build an elevated intersection with an overpass consisting of 5 spans, more than 143m long, 17.4m wide, combined with a service road system to organize traffic, eliminating the situation of having to wait for trains at the North-South railway intersection.
At the same time, the project to build a new Ba Ta bridge with a width of 17.4m, double the current width, 51m long; build a new Ba Meo bridge 38m long, 17.4m wide. The route direction is also adjusted to eliminate sharp bends through the rice field area, ensuring traffic safety and meeting the technical standards of the route.
After completing the upgrade, the route will be arranged with a median strip of 0.5m wide; sidewalks and longitudinal grooves 2.9m wide. Traffic organization includes two lanes for motorized vehicles in the middle and two mixed lanes on both sides.
The investor said that the project will be implemented from the date of the commencement notice, with an expected implementation time of 18 months. The project is expected to be completed and put into operation in December 2027.
Currently, the contractor consortium is focusing on leveling the ground to build a girder casting yard, and at the same time organizing flow prevention to serve the construction of the Kien culvert on the route.
